As terror strategies evolve, modern security forces must also adapt and maintain vigilance. Although the threat of terrorism is real, explosives interdiction has seemed unapproachable to the broader police force amidst day-to-day patrol activities. In the 2016 issue of CBNW Xplosive, FLIR’s Clint Wichert and Chris Skrocki outline explosives trace detection for the masses in an article titled “Kicking Over the Traces.” The article discusses new standards in ease of use, sensing what the human eye cannot see, and asymmetric screening approaches. The article also touches on the Fido® X2 handheld explosives trace detector, FLIR’s newest tool designed specifically for the modern police force.
