Press release
Thermal security cameras for everyone
Price of SR- & F-Series thermal imaging cameras equipped with a 160 x 120 pixels detector is 20% lower than before
Security means making sure that no threat goes undetected 24/7. Contrary to other technologies, thermal imaging cameras need no light whatsoever to produce a crisp image. They can see in total darkness, through dust, fog and smoke, in practically all weather conditions.
Thermal imaging for everyone: 160 x 120 pixels
Although thermal imaging cameras have become a lot more affordable the last few years, they can still be considered slightly more expensive than daylight CCTV cameras. Many users are seeing the advantages of thermal imaging cameras and want to integrate them into new or existing security networks but they feel reluctant because of the price of the thermal imaging cameras.
The FLIR SR- and F-Series, equipped with a 160 x 120 pixels detectors are perfect entry models. They allow users to see in total darkness and still have a good range performance.
In order to make thermal imaging cameras even more accessible to security and surveillance professionals FLIR Systems has now decided to lower the already affordable price of its entry models with more than 20%. Security & Surveillance customers can now benefit from the best technology against the lowest price.

FLIR SR-Series thermal imaging cameras
The SR-Series feature the same thermal imaging technology found in many of FLIR’s most sophisticated security and surveillance systems, but are packaged for users who have mid-range security and surveillance as their primary application. The SR-Series are excellent tools to install in new or existing security installations. They just need power and connection to a screen.
FLIR F-Series thermal imaging cameras
F-Series thermal security cameras let you see intruders and other threats to your facility clearly in total darkness and in bad weather. Fully enabled for control and operation over digital and analog networks. They can easily be installed in a TCP/IP network. Analog configuration for use in legacy networks is also possible.
About thermal imaging
Thermal imaging is the use of cameras constructed with specialty sensors that “see” thermal energy emitted from an object. Thermal, or infrared energy, is light that is not visible to the human eye because its wavelength is too long to be detected. It’s the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we perceive as heat. Infrared allows us to see what our eyes can not.
Thermal imaging cameras produce images of invisible infrared or “heat” radiation. Based on temperature differences between objects, thermal imaging produces a clear image. In contrast with other technologies, such as light amplification, thermal imaging needs no light whatsoever to produce an image on which the smallest of details can be seen. Thermal imaging provides full visibility irrespective of the prevailing light level and weather conditions.
It can see in total darkness, in the darkest of nights, through fog, in the far distance, through smoke and is able to detect anyone hiding in the shadows. It is used for security and surveillance, maritime, automotive, firefighting and many other applications.
