Press release
FLIR Systems launches FLIR SC8000 / SC6000 Series
HD thermal images of 1280 x 1024 pixels
As from today, R&D and Science professionals can see the world of thermal imaging in HD. High quality thermal images of 1280 x 1024 pixels will reveal the smallest thermal anomalies and allow to see the smallest of details.
Thermal imaging of up to 1280 x 1024 pixels will show the smallest of details and assure excellent measurement accuracy. The FLIR SC8000 / SC6000 Series thermal imaging cameras are designed to provide the best thermal measurement performance together with the most advanced connectivity.
Best possible image quality, high accuracy and reliability
The FLIR SC8400 is equipped with a cooled Indium Antimonide (InSb) detector that produces crisp thermal images of 1280 x 1024 pixels. It allows seeing the smallest of details and offers 4 times more thermal data than the standard 640 x 512 pixel images. Users that do not need this amount of pixels can chose for the FLIR SC6000 Series. It provides thermal images of 640 x 512 pixels.
High sensitivity and outstanding measurement accuracy
The FLIR SC8000 / SC6000 Series detect temperature differences smaller than 25mK (18mK typically). With the "lock-in" process temperature differences as small as 1mK will become clearly visible. Thanks to the "auto exposure" feature, the camera automatically adjusts its temperature range to best fit the thermal scene. High accuracy of +/- 1˚C or +/- 1% produces sensitive thermal images. The FLIR SC8000 / SC6000 Series can measure temperatures up to +3,000˚C.
Ultra high frame rate with windowing
The FLIR SC8000 Series have an adjustable frame rate of up to 100 Hz full frame. The FLIR SC6000 Series have an adjustable frame rate of up to 125 Hz. The FLIR SC8000 / SC6000 Series can deliver images up to a speed of 3,000 Hz. Windowing allows a subset of the total image to be selectively read out with user adjustable window size. The sub-sample windows can be arbitrarily chosen and are easily defined.
FLIR proprietary features
The FLIR SC8000 / SC6000 Series contain FLIR proprietary features such as:
-
CLUT™ Detector working domain improvement
Increases the useful range of detector by removing residual non linearities. - CNUC™ Calibration
A proprietary calibration process that provides beautiful imagery and measurement stability. - Hypercal™
Ensures the best measurement range with the highest sensitivity.
Superframing
"Superframing" allows the acquisition of thermal data from up to four user-defined temperature ranges simultaneously, then merges those streams into a single real-time data stream that spans all four temperature ranges, effectively extending dynamic range from 14-bit to 16-bit.
Visual camera with LEDs and Wifi
The visual image can be used as a reference against the thermal image. LED light assures clear visual images even in dark environments. Wifi allows to transfer images and control the camera wirelessly via a smart phone (iPhone) or tablet PC (iPad).
Wide range of interchangeable lenses
The FLIR SC8000 / SC6000 Series come with an advanced high performance optical design with lens recognition and automatic measurement adjustments. The SC6000 Series also feature a high performance Ultrasonic Motor USL (Ultrasonic Smart Lens) mechanism for fast and smooth remote focusing. It is also possible to manually adjust the focus directly on the camera. A wide range of lenses and extension rings is available.
Motorized filter wheel
The FLIR SC8000 / SC6000 Series contain a 4 slots motorized filter wheel with automatic filter recognition and measurement parameter adjustment. The removable filter holders contain an integrated temperature probe for improved measurement accuracy.
Connectivity
The FLIR SC8000 / SC6000 Series offer a wide range of connectivity options:
- Camera Link medium for full bandwidth data acquisition
- Gigabit Ethernet for simple connectivity
- Standard BNC connectors for often used features such as Detector Sync, Acquisition trigger, analog lockin input, Composite video output
- MicroSD-card slot
- DVI-output compatible with 1080p
An extension port with advanced features and connections is available
- 6 digital Inputs/Outputs to interface with other equipment
- Analog linear temperature output providing real time feedback of the observed scene temperature (full image or region of interest)
- Extra analog inputs for external sensors acquisition, tagged within the image
- IRIG-B / 1 PPS connection for external time stamping
- Function generator with adjustable waveform, frequency and amplitude
Removable Touchscreen LCD
The detachable touchscreen LCD provides you with on-site image feedback and camera configuration parameters. You can easily adjust the camera to your needs. One touch on the screen controls the acquisition on the computerThe LCD touchscreen can be removed from the camera when FLIR SC8000 / SC6000 Series needs to be installed in a hard to reach position. Just position your camera and control it from a distance.
About thermal imaging
Thermal imaging is the use of cameras constructed with specialty sensors that "see" thermal energy emitted from an object. Thermal, or infrared energy, is light that is not visible to the human eye because its wavelength is too long to be detected. It's the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we perceive as heat. Infrared allows us to see what our eyes can not. Thermal imaging cameras produce images of invisible infrared or "heat" radiation. Based on temperature differences between objects, thermal imaging produces a clear image. It is an excellent tool for predictive maintenance, building inspections, research & development and automation applications.
It can see in total darkness, in the darkest of nights, through light fog, in the far distance, through smoke. It is also used for security and surveillance, maritime, automotive, firefighting and many other applications.
