Press Release

FLIR Systems launches thermal imaging camera for early fire prevention applications: FLIR FC-Series F

Detecting areas that can lead to a fire in a very early stage is extremely important. Thermal imaging cameras can prevent spontaneous fires by identifying fire pockets in an early stage so that a fire alarm can be triggered. Spontaneous self combustion of for example coal or waste piles can generate fires that are putting lives and valuable assets at risk. Also the inclusion of highly combustible objects in warehouses is a fire hazard.

Thermal imaging cameras like the FLIR FC-Series F are widely used to monitor continuously for hot spots, so that an early fire alarm can be triggered and fires can be avoided.

Typical applications are:

  • Fire prevention in storage areas
  • Flare detection
  • Fire prevention on coal piles
  • Fire prevention in waste or wood storage areas
  • Fire prevention in waste storage areas

The new FC-Series F thermal imaging cameras from FLIR Systems are extremely affordable and easy-to-use tools that will help you detect hot spots before a fire breaks out.

Extremely affordable

Numerous industries have already discovered the benefits of thermal imaging. FLIR Systems is active in all these markets and produces more thermal imaging cameras than any other manufacturer. Thanks to economies of scale FLIR Systems is able to offer the FC-Series F at an extremely affordable price.

High image quality

The FC-Series F are equipped with a maintenance free uncooled microbolometer detector that produces images of no less than 320x240 pixels on which the smallest of details can be seen.

FLIR Systems offers the FLIR FC-Series F with different lens options. They are available with a 9 mm, 13 mm or 19 mm lens. Longer lenses offer a narrower field of view so that you can see farther.

Easy to install

All FLIR FC-Series F thermal imaging camera can be installed on existing infrastructure. There is no need for huge civil works or to open up the road. They can be easily integrated into any existing infrastructure providing detection and visibility 24/7 all the year round. They can serve as a simple plug and play replacement for existing visible cameras

Designed for use in harsh environments

The FC-Series F are extremely rugged systems. Their vital core is well protected, meeting IP66 requirements, against dust and water ingress. They operate between -50 ºC and +75 ºC. Perfect for all climates.

Video analytics

Just like all thermal imaging cameras, the FLIR FC-Series F works perfectly together with video analytics.

About thermal imaging

Thermal imaging is the use of cameras constructed with specialty sensors that “see” thermal energy emitted from an object. Thermal, or infrared energy, is light that is not visible to the human eye because its wavelength is too long to be detected. It’s the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we perceive as heat. Infrared allows us to see what our eyes cannot.

Thermal imaging cameras produce images of invisible infrared or “heat” radiation. Based on temperature differences between objects, thermal imaging produces a clear image. In contrast with other technologies, such as light amplification, thermal imaging needs no light whatsoever to produce an image on which the smallest of details can be seen. Thermal imaging provides full visibility irrespective of the prevailing light level and weather conditions.

It can see in total darkness, in the darkest of nights, through light fog, in the far distance, through smoke and is able to detect anyone hiding in the shadows.
