Writing a Successful Grant Proposal

Here you will find tips for each section of your grant proposal. Remember, the grant pursuit is not for everyone. It takes an extreme amount of persistence, patience, research, time, and follow through. However, if you are successful at acquiring grants, you will quickly become the hero in your department and community.
Grant Writing Procedures and Requirements
Remember, every grantor has its own procedures and requirements. Make sure you read the RFP carefully. Over 50% of proposals are rejected because the writer did not follow the RFP requirements or missed something outlined in the RFP. Excellence in planning, grant application writing, and processes for carrying out a project are critical to your success, the success of your agency's project, and your success with future grants.
Start the process right where you are. Know your agency well—its goals, resources, work, problems, and performance evaluation standards.
Each section of the typical grant proposal has different requirements. Click on the links on the left to learn more about each section.
