Pioneer NAV system installation in 4-Runner
The Pioneer AVIC-Z2 NAV unit supports Video inputs as well as backup camera video. Two of the display modes are somewhat useful for the PathfindIR camera display. The first of these is available in the map view mode where the backup camera can be displayed with the map.

Face plate “ears”
Two 2P2T switches were installed in the center counsel of the vehicle, one for camera power, and the second for backup mode display override for the NAV unit. The opening left from the size difference from the factory JBL radio to the NAV unit was filled by the installer with two custom made “ears” that attached to the sides of the radio. These were made from sheet metal and plastic facing material.

Initial PathfindIR mounting location
This image shows the mounted camera from the under side of the car looking up. The radiator is visible on the left and the camera can be seen attached to the top surface of the bumper on the right. It can be seen that the cable connector boot has been cut so that it fits into the available space below the camera.
