FLIR Announces Raymarine Quantum™ Wireless CHIRP Marine Radar For Boaters

Today FLIR announced Raymarine’s Quantum™ Wireless CHIRP Marine Radar, the saltwater and freshwater industry’s first recreational marine radar dome featuring CHIRP pulse compression technology to provide cruisers, sailors, fisherman, and workboat operators with superior radar imaging on both long and short ranges.

Quantum’s CHIRP Pulse Compression technology displays targets like boats, landmarks, rocks, buoys, and weather cells with unsurpassed resolution and separation quality versus traditional magnetron radars, so operators can clearly determine what’s floating ahead (as close as 18 feet). Quantum’s on-board processing also automatically eliminates rain and sea clutter, blocks interference from other radars, and ensures a noise-free, easy to interpret image in congested waterways.

Quantum’s lightweight design and Wi-Fi connectivity make it easy to install and simple to operate. At only 12 lbs. (5.4 kg), Quantum weighs 50 percent less than traditional magnetron radars. Quantum also connects wirelessly to Raymarine MFDs running the LightHouse II operating system, eliminating the need for additional radar cabling or interface boxes. For sailing vessels, Quantum’s solid state design and highly efficient electronics significantly reduce power consumption extending vessel battery life.
