FLIR Night Vision in Audi and Rolls Royce
by FLIR on January 18, 2010, Transportation · Cores and Components
Motodash has an article published about FLIR technology in a few big name cars. Both the 2011 Audi A8 and 2010 Rolls Royce Ghost Night Vision system feature the same see at night technology you will find in the FLIR PathFindIR. FLIR has already been featured in the BMW 5, 6 and 7 series. Check out the video that demonstrates how much more you can see at night with a FLIR PathFindIR than with regular headlights.
Rural Driving

If you find yourself driving in rural areas, you know the hazards of rural driving. Unlit, unpaved roads with a short sight distance makes for a treacherous and nerve racking drive. Roaming wildlife, livestock and people give you barely enough time to react under normal conditions. Enter the FLIR PathFindIR. Everything you see gives off a heat signature that thermal imaging can see. What does that mean for you? Night vision beyond the scope of your headlights. You can see that cow, deer, moose, or dog hundreds of feet in front of you and have time to react. The camera sits in your grill and the monitor can be implanted into your dash just like a navigation system. It's a very simple solution to increase safety in an otherwise risky situation.

Check out an article at Wired's Autopia about adding thermal imaging cameras to motorcycles. This project is still in the R&D phase, but is still pretty exciting news for motorcycle riders who want to be able to see while riding at night just like car drivers can with the PathFindIR.
