What is the damage threshold for Tau2 and Quark2 cameras? Can Tau2 and Quark2 cameras be used for LASER beam profiling?

FLIR does not specify a damage threshold for Tau2 and Quark2 cameras, however a safe power level is quoted. A continuous power density of 10 watts per square centimeter onto the FPA is safe – essentially the power received in band when imaging the sun. This would need to be adjusted somewhat for specific frequencies, for example, CO2 laser emission is very close to the peak of the bolometer spectral response. It should be noted that the safe level will produce a saturated image not suitable for laser beam profiling and that the level will need to much lower to allow profiling to take place. Also, there may be some temporary image artifacts produced by exposure at these levels.
