For more than two decades, FLIR has helped advance optical gas imaging, giving oil and gas professionals the ability to visualize emissions that would otherwise be invisible. In 2024, we took another step forward with the introduction of ADGiLE™ (Autonomous Detection of Gas Leaks and Emissions), a fixed-mount OGI solution for continuous gas monitoring.
That was the beginning. Today, we are realizing the much broader vision of what ADGiLE was intended to become.
The new ADGiLE solution is not simply an updated camera or methane detection system. It has evolved into a configurable, continuous emissions monitoring platform designed around the realities of industrial sites. The platform brings optical gas imaging (OGI) hardware, intelligent analytics, remote surveillance, alarming, and workflow management together as a scalable solution.
It starts with broader gas detection. The original ADGiLE solution was focused on methane. The updated platform expands those capabilities with a choice of OGI technologies for applications ranging from methane to hydrocarbons to volatile organic compounds (VOCs). A new uncooled FLIR GF77a-HR camera model visualizes ammonia and ethylene emissions, expanding the ADGiLE applications beyond oil and gas. This gives operators greater flexibility to match their OGI technology to the gases and applications that matter at their facilities.
That flexibility extends to the cameras themselves. ADGiLE can be configured with cooled or uncooled OGI technology, with multiple lens options available depending on the configuration and site requirements.
Installation is flexible, too. Different sites present very different monitoring challenges. ADGiLE addresses this through fixed and pan-tilt configurations as well as hazardous-area (ATEX) and non-hazardous-area enclosure options. Pan-tilt capability can extend gas leak surveillance across multiple areas and equipment, helping facilities establish visibility across larger or more complex installations.
ADGiLE is more than a camera. ADGiLE combines imaging hardware with analytics, processing, connectivity, and application software in one continuous monitoring workflow. The automated system allows operators to review event information, recordings, and alerts remotely rather than treating detection as an isolated camera function.
Continuous monitoring changes what operators can see. Emissions are not necessarily continuous themselves. Intermittent events can be missed by intermittent inspections. ADGiLE provides day-and-night continuous view of critical assets, helping operators identify those events and gain greater situational awareness across their facilities.
Visual confirmation adds context. Detecting an incident is only the beginning. OGI allows operators to see an emissions event, while ADGiLE's analytics and monitoring workflow are designed to help distinguish leaks from normal operational emissions and provide information that can help teams prioritize their response.
A key part of this evolution is an expanded choice of OGI cameras and deployment options. These options include:
Together, these capabilities move ADGiLE from a standalone product toward what we believe continuous emissions monitoring should become: a configurable solution built around the facility, the gas of interest, the areas of interest, and the installation requirements.
For FLIR, this evolution builds on more than 20 years of leadership in OGI while taking that expertise into a future where gas detection can be increasingly autonomous, continuous, and connected.
At ADIPEC, we invite you to come see that future for yourself. Visit the Teledyne FLIR booth #9413 and talk with our gas detection experts about how ADGiLE can help move your operation toward the future of autonomous gas detection.
