I am looking to develop a solution that will incorporate a visual camera and an A320 in a common enclosure. Both cameras should be set up and monitored with IR Monitor. Does this work? Is there a list of recommended visual cameras?

Yes, with IR Monitor you can display the image stream from any AXIS camera together with the IR image from A320, provided that you have the latest AXIS Media Control component.
