HD MWIR range science camera for long-range radiometric measurement

Designed for researchers, engineers, and scientists using long-range imaging who need to extract more information from distant and fast-moving objects, the FLIR RS8480 brings 1280 × 1024 HD MWIR imaging to the proven RS-Series.

With four times the pixels of a 640 × 512 detector and 2× the linear sampling across the object, it delivers the spatial detail needed to detect, identify, and measure with greater confidence in applications ranging from missile and rocket testing to target signature, plume analysis, and large-scale outdoor research.

A continuous 50-250 mm metric zoom, extendable to 150-750 mm with the optional 3× afocal multiplier, puts that detail to work across demanding distances, while calibrated radiometric data from every pixel and every frame turns imagery into defensible measurement. Range-grade timing, synchronized acquisition, and the familiar FLIR Research Studio workflow make the RS8480 easy to integrate into established test environments, all within the rugged, IP65-rated chassis.

Radiometry · Data, Not Just Video

Seeing it is useful. Measuring it is the point.

The RS8480 outputs calibrated radiometric data per pixel, per frame, so every image can become quantitative information for temperature and radiance analysis rather than display imagery alone.

Factory calibration includes ambient drift compensation and accurate measurement through zoom. The standard temperature range covers 0°C to 350°C (32°F to 662°F), with measurement up to 3000°C using an ND filter on the 50–250 mm lens.

Timing · Range-Grade Sync

On a test range, timing is
part of the measurement.
