With the public depending on power 24/7, utility companies take every precaution to prevent sudden outages. Another source of service interruption comes from gas leaks in power plants, at substations, or along downstream gas transmission lines. Many of these gases can be hazardous, including methane, carbon monoxide, and sulfur hexafluoride. FLIR's specialized G-Series optical gas imaging (OGI) cameras help ensure public safety by visualizing dangerous gas leaks, so crews can find them quickly and shut them down.

Adequate air exchange is important for occupant comfort, health and safety, but most buildings have a far higher rate of air leakage than necessary. The root cause is often poor design and/or construction which allows air to leak in or out. Without thermal imaging, the source of these drafts can be extremely difficult to detect and visualize.
