The 2.5 km long Prado Carénage Tunnel allows you to easily and quickly cross the city of Marseille without leaving the motorway. The Tunnel Prado Carénage connects the Southern districts of the city of Marseille and the Eastern motorway to the city centre and to North via the Vieux Port tunnel and the coastal motorway. The 1,500 metre double-deck Prado Sud tunnel, each with two lanes, will extend the existing Prado Carénage tunnel towards the southern part of the city.
Complete monitoring solution
“For this project, FLIR Systems is offering a complete detection and monitoring solution, including automatic incident detection, surveillance cameras, mobile cameras, recording capabilities and visualization,” comments Mario Pinto, area manager at FLIR Intelligent Transportation Systems. “With the addition of this contract, our technology is now monitoring all current tunnels in the city of Marseille.” For these Marseille tunnels, FLIR Systems is offering high-quality video servers with integrated video analytics, as well as an integrated automatic incident detection system. For Prado Sud, the choice of the technology fits into the growing trend of edgebased analytics, where the video analytics functionality is positioned closer to the traffic camera, to the edge of the network so to speak.
The bigger picture
57 cameras in the Prado Sud tunnel and 95 cameras in the Prado Carénage tunnel are monitoring traffic for all types of incidents, including stopped vehicles, wrong way drivers, pedestrians and smoke. All this information, provided by a combination of cameras and encoders, is collected and managed by the Flux video detection management system. Flux collects traffic data, events, alarms and video images generated by the video detectors. The main goal of Flux is to manage and control all traffic information generated by these various detectors and to make it useful, meaningful and relevant to the user. Flux provides a user-friendly interface composed of a monitoring and a reporting application and enables real-time monitoring of events and alarms.
Flux 2.1 video detection managementsystem
The Marseille project is making use of the new Flux software package, including a range of new features.
Advanced camera and detectormanagement
The new Flux is now managing sources from any major camera manufacturer out there, not only from FLIR detection modules. This way, it is possible to use Flux as a comprehensive traffic and surveillance monitoring solution for any city or road network.
Mobile camera support
Flux offers joystick functionality, so you can remotely control your mobile camera with the greatest precision
Record, export, control
The new Flux has extended recording capabilities that allow you to control all recorder units in your network, manage your recordings, playback and export your recorded session to a file type of your choice.
Video stream visualization on one ormultiple video walls
Flux allows you to present your video sources, coming from any type of camera or detector, on a large video wall or on multiple video walls. Easy drag & drop functionality enables you to organize your display wall according to your preferences.
FLIR’s Flux management system collects and visualizes a wide range of traffic data, events and alarms from FLIR or other detectionmodules.
