On SC4000-Mid there is an input for external trigger. In Researcher, there is a setting to trigger by external source, but this does not seem to work with SC4000.

Yes, it is possible to use the external trigger input on the camera. You would need to do the following.

1. Start Researcher as you normally would and connect to the camera.
2. Open the SC4000 GUI and connect to the camera. Both the GUI and Researcher can be open at the same time.

3. Connect the camera trigger source to the "Sync In" port.
4. In the GUI, set the "Dwell" for Preset 0 to the number of frames you want to acuire for each trigger.
5. Click the radio button to activate "Preset Sequencing".
6. Set the "Sync Source" to External.

You should see the image in Researcher freeze as data is no longer coming out of the camera. Set up your acquisition as you would normally except that you should not set Researcher to record on external trig but rather start and stop at F5! Researcher will wait until data comes in.

NOTE: 1. You must be very careful when using the SC4000 GUI with a calibrated camera. It is possible to change settings in the camera that could cause the factory calibration to be invalid. You can also erase the factory calibration by overwriting certain values. Normally we do not provide the GUI to Researcher customers unless they have RTools also.
2. Researcher will not record time stamp from the camera, but from the local PC clock.
