What protection is built-in to the battery pack itself to protect against overheating/overcharging?

The InfraCAM/BCAM batteries have a built-in charger that controls the charging current to avoid overcharging and a temperature sensor to avoid overheating. All is controlled by a microcontroller PIC circuit.
