FLIR Fido X2 Wins Innovative Industrial Design Award

Strategic Directions International, Inc. (SDi) announced the winners of its annual IBO Design Awards for excellence in industrial design. FLIR’s Fido X2 handheld explosives trace detector, launched in fall 2015, won the Silver Award in the Portable Analytical Instrument Industrial Design category.

The handheld Fido X2 quickly and accurately detects a broad range of chemicals used in the manufacture of homemade, commercial, and military explosives. At less than 1.5 pounds and featuring an ergonomic, durable design, the Fido X2 is used by state and local law enforcement agencies and first responders at security checkpoints or during high alert stages.

SDI selected products that they monitored through trade shows, trade publications, press releases and the Internet, and shipped between August 2015 and July 2016. SDI chose winners based on their industrial design. Criteria include innovation, aesthetics, functionality, and features.

FLIR is honored by this recognition and the award epitomizes our commitment in the portable analytical instrument class.
